inREBLOGGED FROM EFFROYNI MOSCHOUDI’s Great Blog.
Source: Book review: Tender Enemies by S.R. Mallery | Discover books drenched in Greek sunshine…
OK. First of all, a HEARTY thanks goes out to the fine, wonderfully descriptive author, EFFROSYNI MOSCHOUDI, for her GREAT review of my 1941 WW2 USA Romance thriller! Here it is:
WAIT! Before I let you see it… here’s a chance for you to get it for #FREE #FREE #FREE!!

I love books set in New York and this historical romance had an original premise that drew me from the start. I’d never read anything about Nazis in America before so I was intrigued before I even started to read. S.R. Mallery set her world vividly from the first pages, reeling me in effortlessly. I have read all her other books and, once again the dialogue was spot on for the era. This author writes vivid dialogue and characters in all her books, and she does it in an almost cinematographical way, in the sense that as I read I can see it all in my mind’s eye. What a wonderful talent for a writer to have!
The heroine, Lily, was traumatized from childhood and worried for her mother’s health too. She is such a caring soul, a good girl that was full of worry and trepidation. It all made me yearn for her to find happiness. The man she loved was someone she was assigned to spy on, which caused her to ache with love for him while doubting his integrity and true motives at the same time.
A host of Nazi supporters, some operatives on a stake-out, and FBI agents are featured in the story, weaving a web of lies and distrust that trapped the two protagonists at the center. I cannot recommend this book enough for fans of historical fiction and sweet romance with suspense. The story proved utterly entertaining to the last page. Towards the end, a series of twists and revelations caused my reading pleasure to skyrocket.
But, above all, what I enjoyed the most was feeling fully immersed in the 1940s as I read. It was an unforgettable mind trip and I urge you to take it as well.
My rating: 5 stars
Intriguing historical romance. Such a page-turner!

inMA BARKER CLICK HERE TO GO TO THE ORIGINAL POST BY CLANCY TUCKER
“G’day folks,
Now, here is a wild mob. Ma Barker was the matriarch of the Barker-Karpis Gang, whose spree of kidnappings, murders and bank robberies led to her and its members’ violent deaths.
Synopsis
Ma Barker was born on October 8, 1873, in Ash Grove, Missouri. She had four sons: Herman, Lloyd, Arthur and Fred, who, with Alvin Karpis, formed the Barker-Karpis Gang in 1931. That year, Fred and Alvin shot a sheriff to death. The murder started a pattern of thoughtless killing by the gang. Ma Barker became a wanted woman. On January 16, 1935, Ma and Fred where shot and killed by FBI agents in Oklawaha, Florida.
Early Years
Ma Barker was born Arizona Donnie Clark on October 8, 1873, to a poor family in Ash Grove, Missouri. Her parents were of Irish and Scottish descent. Clark was a headstrong girl with dark penetrating eyes and a nasty temper. Along with her siblings, she attended church regularly and spent her free time singing and playing the fiddle.
As a child, Clark witnessed local outlaw Jesse James and his gang ride through her hometown. The sight triggered her thirst for adventure and was a catalyst for her life to come.
Personal Life
In 1892, Clark married a man who would fail to quench that thirst—a poor, soft-spoken tenant farmer named George Barker. Over the next decade, the couple had four sons: Herman, Lloyd, Arthur (nicknamed Doc) and Fred. (Arizona Clark had by then had adopted the nickname “Kate,” and taken her husband’s last name.)
As the Barker boys aged, they were constantly in trouble with the law. Herman, the oldest, was arrested in 1910 for petty thievery. By the time Barker’s two youngest, Doc and Fred, had reached their teen years, all four sons were repeatedly landing themselves in prisons and reformatories. But Kate Barker refused to discipline her boys and would fly into a rage at anyone, including her husband, who tried to scold them. After the family relocated to Tulsa in 1915, George left Kate.
Barker-Karpis Gang
In the spring of 1931, Ma Barker’s youngest son, Fred, was unexpectedly paroled from Lansing Prison, in Kansas. Fred brought with him a fellow parolee named Alvin Karpis. He and Fred agreed to become partners in crime. Ma approved of the newly formed Barker-Karpis Gang and let them use her Tulsa shack as a hideout. Living vicariously through the exploits of her boys offered Ma the adventure she had always craved.
THIS PHOTO is my addition, FROM PINTEREST PAGE:
Fred and Alvin quickly went to work, committing a series of burglaries and small?time bank robberies. In December 1931, they robbed a department store in West Plains, Missouri. The next day, they shot and murdered the town’s Sheriff, C. R. Kelly, at point blank range. Kelly’s murder started a pattern of excessive violence and thoughtless killing that soon became the trademark of the Karpis-Barker Gang. For the first time, Ma Barker became a wanted woman.
On March 29, 1932, Fred, Alvin and three accomplices robbed the Northwestern National Bank in Minneapolis and made a clean getaway. The Barker?Karpis Gang got away with more than a quarter of a million dollars in cash and bonds.
In September of 1932, Ma’s son Doc was paroled from a murder sentence at the same time that his brothers were free. The Barker gang was back at full strength and more menacing than ever. With Ma’s blessing, they quickly plotted another bank job for December, at the Third Northwestern National Bank in Minneapolis. This time, however, they failed to adequately think the job through. The consequence was a violent shootout with the police, which only served to solidify their reputation as the most vicious criminal gang in America.
A Violent Death – See My added Photo Above from PINTEREST
Another shootout between the Barkers and the authorities would occur on the morning of January 16, 1935, when the FBI raided the house in Oklawaha, Florida, where Ma and Fred were staying. Heavily armed FBI agents surrounded the house and ordered the pair to surrender. With no reply, the agents threw tear gas canisters at the windows. Fred fired a machine gun and a shootout began that left the house riddled with bullets. Fred and Ma fought for their lives, shooting back with everything they had. Finally, after four hours, the federal agents began to run out of ammunition and the scene became deathly quiet. Ma and Fred Barker were found together, dead in an upstairs bedroom. A stash of weapons and thousands of dollars were recovered at the house.”
NOW HERE’S ALSO MY ADDITION: Shelley Winters played MA BARKER on two episodes of “BATMAN” in 1966. Here is the IMDB link:

inSource: Clancy Tucker’s Blog: 27 December 2014 – JANE AUSTEN
G’day folks,
Welcome to some facts on one of the most famous authors ever.
Early Life Jane Austen
Jane Austen was born in Steventon, Hampshire on 16th December 1775. She was the 7th daughter of an 8 child family. Her father, George Austen, was a vicar and lived on a reasonable income of £600 a year. However, although they were middle class, they were not rich; her father would have been unable to give much to help her daughters get married. Jane was brought up with her 5 brothers and her elder sister Cassandra. (another brother, Edward, was adopted by a rich, childless couple and went to live with them). Jane was close to her siblings, especially Cassandra, to whom she was devoted. The two sisters shared a long correspondence throughout her life; much of what we know about Jane comes from these letters, although, unfortunately Cassandra burnt a number of these on Jane’s death.
Jane was educated at Oxford and later a boarding school in Reading. In the early 1800s two of Jane’s brother’s joined the navy, leaving to fight in the Napoleonic wars; they would go on to become admirals. The naval connections can be seen in novels like Mansfield Park. After the death of her father in 1805, Jane, with her mother and sister returned to Hampshire. In 1809, her brother, Edward who had been brought up by the Knights, invited the family to the estate he had inherited at Chawton. It was in the country house of Chawton, that Jane was able to produce some of her greatest novels.
Novels of Jane Austen
Her novels are a reflection of her outlook on life. She spent most of her life insulated from certain sections of society. Her close friends were mainly her family, and those of similar social standing. It is not surprising then that her novels focused on 2 or 3 families of the middle or upper classes. Most novels were also based on the idyll of rural country houses that Jane was so fond of.
Her novels also focus on the issue of gaining a suitable marriage. Marriage was a big issue facing women and men of her time; often financial considerations were paramount in deciding marriages. As an author, Jane used to satirise these financial motivations, for example, in Pride and Prejudice the mother is ridiculed for her ambitions to marry her daughters for maximum financial remuneration. Jane, herself remained single throughout her life. Apart from brief flirtations, Jane remained single, and appeared to have little interest in getting married (unlike the characters of her novels.
The strength of Jane’s novels was her ability to gain penetrating insights into the character and nature of human relationships, from even a fairly limited range of environments and characters. In particular, she helped to redefine the role and aspirations of middle class women like herself. Through providing a witty satire of social conventions, she helped to liberate contemporary ideas of what women could strive for.
During her lifetime the novels were reasonably popular. One of her strongest supporters was Walter Scott. He said of her novels:
“That young lady has a talent for describing the involvements of feelings and characters of ordinary life which is to me the most wonderful I ever met with”
King George IV actually requested that one novel could be dedicated to him. Emma is therefore dedicated to the King, even though Jane did not maintain any liking towards the King.
Not all were favourable to Jane. The literary critic and wit, Mark Twain, said:
“Jane Austen? Why, I go so far as to say that any library is a good library that does not contain a volume by Jane Austen. Even if it contains no other book“
Jane died in 1816, aged only 41. She died of Addison’s disease, a disorder of the adrenal glands. She was buried at Winchester Cathedral.
There are two museums dedicated to Jane Austen.
In 2005, Pride and Prejudice was voted best British novel of all time in a BBC poll. Jane was also voted as one of the Top 100 greatest Britons

Uvi’s writing experience with Love Under Fire
1. What is your main objective in bundling your works with other authors?
The main objective is to create an audience that combines the readers from all 21 authors, so that each reader has the opportunity to discover new, never before published novels. Along the way, each reader will also discover new authors in a genre they love. This boxed set is already a #1 bestseller in several categories, and its authors have recently ranked in the top #100 in Romantic Suspense.
Part of the earning goes to Pets for Vets, so by buying the set you are supporting a worthy cause.
2. What blogging, newsletter and social media promotions have you done to promote LUF?
I have organized an incredibly successful event for the boxed set, Love Under Fire Bonanza.
You can get a glimpse of it in these posts: Join our Love Under Fire Bonanza
Let me introduce you to my author friends
During the event, we invited our guests to get a first glimpse at the writing and the inspiration for our stories. I designed banners for all of us, for use in the event and in its Grand Finale, where we awarded prizes to the lucky winners. These banners are now used also for my weekly post on my blog, where I introduce the authors one by one. Here are a few examples:
• Support Pets foVets
• Our love is magic, our love is a thrill
• When Love Sparks Danger, get ready for an explosion!
• Will you save me? Will you reach for my hand?
Also, I post excerpts for each one of the 21 novels. Here are a few examples:
The first bullet whizzed by my head
I’m not a terrorist, I’m not a traitor
Am I too young to die?
Let me make it up to you
Had someone died?
We are sinking. Repeat. We are sinking
My Twitter following is nearly 40K, so it’s a powerful tool for me. I use it as well as Facebook, Google, Goodreads, Amazon ads and Facebook ads, and newsletters to my subscribers, all designed to share the news about the boxed set. For each new post I design a new banner, often in the spirit of the season.
3. Most authors require a large time commitment just in writing and editing a new book. Was this your first book set, a new book was required with a deadline?
This is a new book that has been waiting in the wings for two decades. Often, when thinking about creativity, I marvel at how close it is for various disciplines, such as art and writing. In both disciplines, I’m interested in questions such as, how much detail should I flesh out? Where can I provide just a hint, and let the reader participate by ‘connecting the dots’?
This last question is particularly important when writing a suspense novel (the ink is still wet on the last chapter of my upcoming thriller, Virtually Lace.) I want to provide enough detail so the sharp-minded reader will solve the who-done-it early in her reading, but not too much detail as to make the exploration a thing of boredom. It’s tricky to find just the right balance between red-herring and real clues.
The earliest version of this novel was written nearly twenty years ago. Luckily, I could not manage to find a publishing agent at that time. Luckily, because now I could separate myself from the writing, discover its flaws, and completely rewrite it, using my newly-gained experience as a writer.
It’s easy to say ‘rewrite’–but the process was harrowing to me. First, I removed all the over-the-top, flowery phrases, deleted a few characters so I could focus on the main protagonist in more depth, gutted out many of the scenes, and marked passages that were worth saving. The destruction phase was difficult. It made me both cruel and sick to my stomach, until I embarked on the creation phase. That’s the part where, phrase by phrase, paragraph by paragraph, scene by scene, chapter by chapter, the characters start to breathe in me, and they take over the story.
This, to me, is much like painting in watercolors. Creating beautiful watercolor puddles is where the image starts to flow, starts to suggest to me how to flesh out the forms that only I can see in there.

The White Piano – Still Life with Memories Book 2
Coming back to his childhood home after years of absence, Ben is unprepared for the secret, which is now revealed to him: his mother, Natasha, who used to be a brilliant pianist, is losing herself to early-onset Alzheimer’s, which turns the way her mind works into a riddle. His father has remarried, and his new wife, Anita, looks remarkably similar to Natasha—only much younger. In this state of being isolated, being apart from love, how will Ben react when it is so tempting to resort to blame and guilt? “In our family, forgiveness is something you pray for, something you yearn to receive—but so seldom do you give it to others.”
Behind his father’s back, Ben and Anita find themselves increasingly drawn to each other. They take turns using an old tape recorder to express their most intimate thoughts, not realizing at first that their voices are being captured by him. These tapes, with his eloquent speech and her slang, reveal the story from two opposite viewpoints. What emerges in this family is a struggle, a desperate, daring struggle to find a path out of conflicts, out of isolation, from guilt to forgiveness.

The Music of Us – Still Life with Memories Book 3
In 1970, Lenny can no longer deny that his wife is undergoing a profound change. Despite her relatively young age, her mind succumbs to forgetfulness. Now, he goes as far back as the moment he met Natasha during WWII, when he was a wounded warrior and she—a star, brilliant yet illusive. Natasha was a riddle to him then, and to this day, with all the changes she has gone through, she still is.
“Digging into the past, mining its moments, trying to piece them together this way and that, dusting off each memory of Natasha, of how we were, the highs and lows of the music of us, to find out where the problem may have started?”
To their son, Ben, that may seem like an exercise in futility. For Lenny, it is a necessary process of discovery, one that is as tormenting as it is delightful. He often wonders: can we ever understand, truly understand each other—soldier and musician, man and woman, one heart and another? Will we ever again dance together to the same beat? Is there a point where we may still touch?
This is a historical fiction novel about world war II wounded warrior military romance, a young woman love story. It is also one of family sagas best sellers. Do you like this genre, especially when it is tinged with family saga romance, and wrapped with a second chance in love with a strong female lead? Then this family saga series, Still Life with Memories, is for you.

Dancing with Air – Still Life with Memories Book 4
Serving on the European front, Lenny longs for Natasha, the girl who captured his heart back home. He writes bogus reports, designed to fall into the hands of Nazi Intelligence. To fool the enemy, these reports are disguised as love letters to another woman. This task must remain confidential, even at the risk of Natasha becoming suspicious of him.
Once she arrives in London, Lenny takes her for a ride on his Harley throughout England, from the White Cliffs of Dover to a village near an underground ammunition depot in Staffordshire. When he is wounded in a horrific explosion, Natasha brings him back to safety, only to discover the other woman’s letter to him. He wonders, will she trust him again, even though as a soldier, he must keep his mission a secret? Will their love survive the test of war?
In the past Natasha wrote, with girlish infatuation, “He will be running his fingers down, all the way down to the small of my back, touching his lips to my ear, breathing his name, breathing mine. Here I am, dancing with air.” In years to come, she will begin to lose her memory, which will make Lenny see her as delicate. “I gather her gently into my arms, holding her like a breath.” But right now, during the months leading up to D-Day, she is at her peak. With solid resolve, she is ready to take charge of the course of their story.
Dancing with Air is a standalone WWII historical fiction novel, as well as the fourth volume of a family saga series titled Still Life with Memories, one of family sagas best sellers of all time. If you like family saga romance, wounded warrior romance books, military romantic suspense, or strong female lead romance, you will find that this love story is a unique melding of them all.

Rise to Power – The David Chronicles Book 1
Here is the story of David as you have never heard it before: from the king himself, telling the unofficial version, the one he never allowed his court scribes to recount. In his mind, history is written to praise the victorious—but at the last stretch of his illustrious life, he feels an irresistible urge to tell the truth. In the first volume, Rise to Power, David gives you a fascinating account of his early years, culminating with a tribal coronation. Rooted in ancient lore, his is a surprisingly modern memoir.
In an era of cruelty, when destroying the enemy is deemed a sacred directive, the slayer of Goliath finds a way to become larger than life. His search for a path to power leads him in ways that are, at times, scandalous. Notorious for his contradictions, David is seen by others as a gifted court entertainer, a successful captain in Saul’s army, a cunning fugitive, a traitor leading a gang of felons, and a ruthless raider of neighboring towns who leaves no witnesses behind.
How does he see himself, during this first phase of his life? With his hands stained with blood, can he find an inner balance between conflicting drives: his ambition for the crown, his determination to survive the conflict with Saul, and his longing for purity, for a touch of the divine, as expressed so lyrically in his psalms and music?

A Peek at Bathsheba – The David Chronicles Book 2
Having reached his peak, David makes a serious error that threatens to undo his political success and cost him not only the adoration of his people, but also the sense of being sustained by a divine power. That error is the most torrid tale of passion ever told: his forbidden love for Bathsheba.
When she becomes pregnant, David attempts to cover up the ensuing scandal by sending her husband—who serves him faithfully in his army—to his death. And for the rest of his life, he is tormented by the memory of that moment. Will he find redemption? Will he muster the strength to keep his promise to her and protect their son from danger?
This is volume II of the trilogy The David Chronicles, told candidly by the king himself. David uses modern language, indicating that this is no fairytale. Rather, it is a story that is happening here and now. Listen to his voice as he undergoes a profound change, realizing the magnitude of his sin, and the curse looming over his entire future.
If you like ancient historical fiction about court intrigue, this king David novel has a modern twist like no book you have read before. And among forbidden love books, this one stands alone.

The Edge of Revolt – The David Chronicles Book 3
Struggling to find the right balance between loving his sons and upholding justice, David is silent when Amnon rapes his daughter, Tamar, and when Absalom lures Amnon to his death. These crimes go unpunished, because a mysterious change has come upon the king, which his court scribes note even before he does. In the past he had to explain his actions, such as the affair with Bathsheba, to them. Now, they want to understand the opposite thing: his lack of action.
In families other than his, such matters may be a mere matter of gossip. Yet when assault, incest, and murder occur in the king’s family, they affect matters of the state. Beset by court intrigue, David is toppled from his throne, and must escape from the son he adores, Absalom.
Even as he finds a way to quell the revolt and come back to the City of David, the road ahead seems unclear. How will he find the right successor amongst his remaining sons, the one who will connect to him and continue his legacy?
This standalone King David novel is volume III of The David Chronicles, one of ancient historical fiction series best sellers of all time about king David’s wives. It is told candidly by the king himself. David uses modern language, indicating that this is no fairytale. Rather, it is a story that is happening here and now. Each volume can be read as a standalone novel. Taken together, they put you in the skin of the character from youth to old age.

Inspired by Art: Fighting Goliath – The David Chronicles Book 4
Inspired by Art: Fighting Goliath is a collection of art throughout the ages, around the story of David. This volume focuses on the epic battle with Goliath.
These amazing sculptures, paintings, etchings, and manuscript illustrations inspired the author to write The David Chronicles, a series of three volumes, the first of which is the novel Rise to Power, where she imagines the battle with Goliath.
Besides being an artist and having worked as an architect, she taught art history, and this collection served as the basis for a semester-long course analyzing the contrasts in viewpoints around the biblical story.

A Favorite Son
This story is a present-day twist on the biblical story of Jacob and his mother Rebecca plotting together against the elderly father Isaac, who is lying on his deathbed, in order to get their hands on the inheritance, and on the power in the family. This is no old fairy tale. Its power is here and now, in each one of us.
Listening to Yankle telling his take on events, we understand the bitter rivalry between him and his brother. We become intimately engaged with every detail of the plot, and every shade of emotion in these flawed, yet fascinating characters. He yearns to become his father’s favorite son, seeing only one way open to him, to get that which he wants: deceit
“What if my father would touch me,” asks Yankle. In planning his deception, it is not love for his father, nor respect for his age that drives his hesitation—rather, it is the fear to be found out.
And so—covering his arm with the hide of a kid, pretending to be that which he is not—he is now ready for the last moment he is going to have with his father.

Twisted
In this unique collection, discover diverse tales, laden with shades of mystery. Come into a dark, strange world, a hyper-reality where nearly everything is firmly rooted in the familiar—except for some quirky detail that twists the yarn, and takes it for a spin in an unexpected direction.
This is the reality you will see in hell, through the eyes of a ghost of a woman, trying to reclaim her name by appealing to the devil; the eyes of a clay figure of a woman, about to be fired in the kiln, longing for her Creator; the eyes of a woman in the midst of a free fall, about to become a ghost; and the eyes of a feline creature with cracked fangs, trying in vain to resign herself, by hook and by crook, to being locked. These characters explore their identity, and challenge their fate.
Inspired by her art and by literature, these tales come from different times and places. Yet all of them share one thing in common: an unusual mind, one that is twisted. So prepare yourself: keep the lights on.
If you like to read a horror anthology, with dark fantasy horror about the battle between devil and God, you will enjoy outwitting the devil in this book, because it is a woman, or rather her ghost, that finds a way to outwit him.

Home
Home. A simple word; a loaded one. You can say it in a whisper; you can say it in a cry. Expressed in the voices of father and daughter, you can hear a visceral longing, in poems and prose, for an ideal place. A place never to be found again.
Imagine the shock, imagine the sadness when a daughter discovers her father’s work, the poetry he had never shared with anyone during the last two decades of his life. Six years after that moment of discovery, which happened in her childhood home while mourning for his passing, Uvi Poznansky presents a tender tribute: a collection of poems and prose, half of which is written by her, and half—by her father, the author, poet and artist Zeev Kachel. She has been translating his poems for nearly a year, with careful attention to rhyme and rhythm, in an effort to remain faithful to the spirit of his words.
Zeev’s writing is always autobiographical in nature; you can view it as an ongoing diary of his life. Uvi’s writing is rarely so, especially when it comes to her prose. She is a storyteller who delights in conjuring up various figments of her imagination, and fleshing them out on paper. She sees herself chasing her characters with a pen, in an attempt to see the world from their point of view, and to capture their voices. But in some of her poems, she offers you a rare glimpse into her most guarded, intensely private moments, yearning for Home.

Jess and Wiggle
Written in rhyme, this is a story about a little girl who rarely smiles, till the day she meets Wiggle, an imaginary creature with whom she is having a contest: who will be the one to burst in laughter first?
Once there was a little girl
With the cutest reddish curl
Her name—how could you guess?
It was simply: Jess….
The paintings for the cover and interior pages were done by the author herself. The text is hand-written in a whimsically designed font. When Jess talks, her lines are drawn in a straight line; when Wiggle talks, his lines are drawn on a wiggly curve. Each color illustration is a hand-made collage.
Whether you are looking for a picture book for toddlers or a picture books for kids, a children’s books ages 2-5 or a children’s books ages 4-8, you will find this book fascinating not only to your child but to you as well.

Now I Am Paper
Written in rhyme, this is a children’s book for all ages, about longing for a child who has gone on her way and left the old tree behind. The tree gives voice to love and loss, fear and hope, death and rebirth in a new form, as it is transformed first to pulp and then to paper, the very paper from which the child reads this story. Sensually told, it brings forth the sounds and smells of the forest.
I remember: a gentler sound,
The forest rustling in the rain
Leaves were swirling all around
I heard soft footsteps up the lane…
The paintings for the cover and interior pages are watercolor on paper, done by the author. She drew the text for each verse by hand, in a ‘Gothic’ font that is as flowery as the tree used to be in its prime. Children would love the highly decorative style of the writing, and the sudden long strokes that express the emotions in this story.
Each verse appears on a paper leaf that floats over transparent paper in the shape of an ellipse, which symbolizes a puddle of tears at the foot of the tree.
If you liked The Giving Tree, you will love this picture book for kids, which mothers and fathers find utterly fascinating.

When Lily sets up a spy trap, she faces great danger––of falling in love.
It’s 1941 in New York City, a time before Pearl Harbor, when Nazi spies are everywhere in the U.S. and no one knows who’s working for whom. In comes beautiful Lily, paid to gather intelligence by setting up a “honey trap” for Joe Stiles, a supposed German infiltrator. Problem is, she soon faces a danger she isn’t prepared for––falling in love.
Sarah’ s writing experience with Love Under Fire
1. What is your main objective in bundling your works with other authors?
My objective in bundling my work with other authors is three-fold. First of all, I like the extra exposure. People, who might not ever have heard about me before, will be able to see and read my material. Secondly, it is also a wonderful way to connect with fellow authors you either didn’t know at all before, or perhaps you’d only seen/heard about them peripherally. It’s been my experience that such groupings can produce really good friendships. Third, and perhaps the most appealing to me, is the sense of community that a boxed set brings. Having sung in numerous choirs and madrigal groups, it reminds me of performing at concerts, when pulling together to create a wonderful sound was far, far more important than simply tooting one’s own horn as a soloist. (No pun intended!)
2. What blogging, newsletter and social media promotions have you done to prom ote LUF?
Besides having designed numerous promos for Love Under Fire, I have promoted on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, my newsletters, and my blog.
3. Most authors require a large time commitment just in writing and editing a new book. Was this your first book set, a new book was required with a deadline?
No, this is my second boxed set. Making sure I met my first set’s contractual deadline actually gave me hives! So, with this current set, I decided to take a different tact. As soon as I was invited in, I immediately got to work. I managed to finish it all far sooner than the contract demanded. That was a smoother, more peaceful way for me to go, because writing historical fiction does take longer than other genres. Finishing my TENDER ENEMIES early also afforded me more leeway to do promoting and designing promos for the set. However, I feel I must give a shout out here to those authors in the set who not only have been designing, setting up giveaways, and promoting like there’s no tomorrow, they are also writing and promoting for other boxed sets AND, on top of that, meeting Love Under Fire’s deadlines. God bless them! I admire and appreciate them greatly!

Post with Profile + Interview: HBS Author’s Spotlight
Author Description: They say I’m as eclectic as my characters. I’ve been a singer, a composer, a calligrapher, a quilt artist, and an ESL/Reading teacher. But it is the world of writing historical fiction where I feel I’ve come “home.” It’s where I’ve received various awards and in addition, get to do my second love: Research.
When people talk about the news of the day, or when I listen to music, my overactive imagination likens the story to a similar kind of news in the past, which helps me conjure up scenes between characters I’ve yet to meet.
